The Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Zepher Mubingwa has described as disappointing the inciting statements attributed to a Legislator from Kasese district who supports the current industrial action by teachers over salary increments.
At the burial of Jeiles Kahika, the former Kasese district Chief Administrative Officer in Kisinga, Hon. Atkins Godfrey Katusabe, the Member of Parliament representing Bukonzo West constituency in Kasese district is quoted to have asked teachers to keep on strike until government responds to their salary increment concerns.
Mr. Mubingwa whose Deputy docket oversees Busongora County says whereas the concerns of the teachers were genuine, wonders if Hon. Katusabe remembers what the country had been through over the two years lockdown.
He was also hesitant whether the Legislator knows the effects of the children keeping home and the stress the poor parents with learners in public schools were going through. Mr. Mubingwa Speaking…….
Hon. Katusabe who warned town clerks, CAOs and other district and urban administrators against any threats to the teachers, says the industrial action should continue till government addresses the concerns of presented by UNATU. Hon. Katusabe speaking…..
The legislator later said the teachers` issues will be a priority as Parliament resumes business next week. END.
