Lt. Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy RDC in charge of Bukonzo County, has urged the Ministry of Water and Environment not only to concentrate on the negativity of flooding rivers in Kasese but also explore benefits of the Rivers.
Their intervention will help to mitigate the challenge of hunger and malnutrition by harnessing production on the Rivers in Kasese District and Rwenzori region atlarge.
Addressing a one day stakeholders meeting of Ministry of Water and environment officials from western region held at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town on Thursday, Lt.Magwara said time was ripe for technocrats to guide the farmers about good usage of rivers, especially in Mubuku Irrigation and Muhokya Mini-Irrigation schemes, despite disaster risks.
