The delays to install the monument of the first Rwenzururu King, His Majesty Isaya Mukyirania, at the Kasese Main Roundabout, is reportedly politically motivated, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese district Forum for Democratic Change chairperson has said.
During her 2021 political campaigns, Hon. Florence Kabugho, the then media heroine and currently the Kasese woman Member of Parliament, pledged to sponsor the installation of the monument in recognition of the contributions by the first Rwenzururu king, among them the creation of Kasese district and his campaign for the use of a pen to present concerns than conflicts.
Addressing the media at his party offices in Kasese yesterday, Mr. Kabuku who threatened to mobilize for a peaceful demonstration should the delays keep by January 1st 2025, alleged that the alleged silence about the matter by Uganda National Road Authority, was reportedly forced by a section of NRM leaders who think the project was timely to give the donor more political muscles ahead of the 2026 general polls. Responding to the allegations, Mr. Johnson Kamalha, the Kasese district NRM publicity secretary, described Mr. Kabuku as a mere joker and political comedian who should know the procedure than apportioning blame to the NRM party that has no connections to the purported delayed monument installation. Mr. Kamalha speaking…….
He called for calm among the Kasese people whom he said should not be diverted by what he called diversionary political comedies. END
