The declaration of results for NRM primaries in Bundibugyo District have been halted.

The decision followed a security meeting chaired by the Resident District Commissioner, Ms.Grace Asiimwe and members of the NRM electoral commission yesterday.

Though voting in the district was largely peaceful, concerns of varying figures on the declaration forms caused tensions in the tally room.

On Friday police had to fire live bullets to disperse crowds that were demanding party electoral officials to declare the results or call for fresh elections.

Ms. Asiimwe says that they resolved to halt the exercise after realizing that supporters of various candidates especially for Bughendera County had started threatening the electoral officials and their opponents.

She added that they have contacted the chairperson NRM electoral commission Dr. Tanga Odoi to take up the declaration of the result exercise.

Hon.Kibanzanga welcomed the decision to involve the top EC in the process saying the delay had already created an environment where no one could concede defeat. Hon. Kibanzanga on Results;….

Mr. Rashid Bwambale doubts whether the top party electoral officials will change anything. ENDS .
