The death toll of suspected panga-wielding assailants killed today morning in Kasese district after raiding two Police Barracks has reached 16.

Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner told the press that the suspects allegedly stormed Kasese and Rugendabara Police barracks at 5:30am.

According to Walusimbi, by 10 am, five assailants had been killed in Kasese and six others had been put out of action in Rugendabara.
But, a local leader from Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Council who preferred anonymity explained that five more other suspects were gunned down near Rugendabara YMCA secondary school.
Reports from Kasese Municipal Health Center III mortuary indicate that so far 16 dead bodies have been brought at the facility.
