It is currently illegal to levy Visa fees on people from Bukonzo West constituency and Kinyamaseke town council crossing the Uganda-DR Congo border in Kasese, Lt. Matte Magwara, the Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in Charge of Bukonzo County has said.
Lt. Magwara said the development follows the President Museveni’s directive in December last year that travels cross Uganda and DR Congo do not require any Visa fees since the two countries are members States of East African.
Addressing leadership of the local business community of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council at Mpondwe border post hall yesterday, Lt. Magwara said the two counties had harmonized to scrap off first the Visa fees from the border communities as others demands are being looked into.
