Residents of Katwe-Kabatooro town council in Kasese District have expressed concern over repeated crocodile attacks in the area.
The locals who said the crocs are a threat to domestic animals and birds, added that the deadly reptiles lie along the village paths and pounce on some local residents as they walk to fetch water, market and to school.
Mr. Joseph Jagwe from Rwenjubu cell says crocodiles have increased in number and they do not have food, forcing them to invade homes and gardens for survival.
Mr. Johnson Maate who lost his leg to a crocodile says he has been finding it difficult to care for his family after he became incapacitated because he depended on fishing as their main source of income but cannot handle anymore. Mr. Maathe speaking…….
Ms Rosemary Nalubega whose husband was mauled to death says many cases of crocodile victims go unreported as some of the victims are unknown in the area.
Ms Nalubega adds that she is struggling to raise her family of three after her attempts to start a goat-rearing business were frustrated by the crocodiles.

Mr. Robert Kasaija, the local council one Chairperson for Katwe landing site, says crocodiles have killed more than 30 people and 100 domestic animals mainly cows and goats in the last three years, forcing many families to abandon domestic animal and bird rearing. Mr. Kasaija speaking……..
