    Congolese fishermen receives over 9 impounded boat engines in Uganda

    Ugandan Authorities have handed over nine boat engines impounded from Congolese fishermen for illegally fishing on Ugandan side of Lake Edward in Kasese district.

    The Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walunsimbi handed over the boat engines to Congolese fishermen at Katwe-Kabatoro fish landing site yesterday, with a call to stop illegal fishing on Ugandan waters.

    Lt.Walunsimbi said this was a sign of good relations the two East African community countries are enjoying.

    The Commander Fishing protection Unit, Capt. Julius Ankunda said the engines had completed three years impounded by security but lastly the two countries harmonized over the issue. Capt. Ankunda on boats….

    The Chairperson Kyavinyonge fish landing site in DRC, Mr. Asumani Siriwayo Mumbere hailed Ugandan Government for the prevailing relationship that has led to the release of boat engines pledging to strengthen cross border trade between the two countries.
