The chairperson of Uganda Episcopal Conference, Rt. Rev. Antony Joseph Zziwa has urged catholic communicators to use mass media to promote humanity among migrants and refugees in their areas of operation.
Bishop Zziwa said despite the core humanitarian principle and operational standards of the media to govern refugee service providers, the catholic Journalists need to go an extra mile to base their reports on the Holy Scriptures and the catholic social teachings of love, human dignity, common good, justice and peace among others.
In his speech during the official opening of a five days training for catholic Journalists, media professionals and civil society organizations involved in in the care of Migrants and refugees held at St. Mary’s National Major seminary-Ggaba, Bishop Zziwa who is the Ordinary of Kiyinda-Mityana diocese said catholic journalism should be accommodative and generally routed in the mission of Christ to proclaim the Good News to the oppressed, poor and all the less privileged people.
