The remains of Col. Anthony Kyakabale, a former National Resistance Army fighter who later turned a rebel, were yesterday laid to rest at his ancestral home in Nyakarambi Village, Rwamucucu Sub-County, Rukiga District.

He was accorded full military honors, including a three-gun salute.
Col. Kyakabale, who died of cancer in Sweden on October 5, 2025, was remembered for his long and eventful military and political career that spanned over four decades.
During the burial Mass held at Rushebeya Playground in Kitojo Parish, Rev. Fr. Marius Byamukama, the parish priest of Kitanga, urged government leaders to focus on building positive legacies. Representing the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Maj. Gen. Ambrose Musinguzi, the Chief of Staff in charge of Health Services in the UPDF, described the late Col. Kyakabale as “a selfless and dedicated officer who served his country with distinction.” END
