Police has summoned two more civil servants from Kasese Municipality on allegations of stealing construction materials for the Kasese Municipal Administration building, The Rwenzori East Police spokesperson, ASP Ismail Kawoo has said.

Early this week, local and social media outlets were awash with reports of some civil servants at Kasese Municipal council conniving to steal construction material estimated to about six million shillings, leaving one Mr. Dionosious, a Kasese Municipal Driver in police cells as two others were being hunted.

ASP Kawoo who declined to identify the two civil servants summoned, asked the public to trust police which he said it was in control of the matter, including protecting the right of Mr. Dionosious Nyakairu for a police bond.

Whereas Mr. Kawoo said the matter was being professionally dealt with, the Kasese Municipal Development Forum described Dionosious police bond as done in a rush to protect those he called the big fish that is involved in the theft scan. ASP Kawoo speaking1……

When asked about fears that the case may be interfered with now that the principle suspect was bonded out, Mr. Kawoo said police had deployed senior investigators to get the right facts to enable the suspects arraigned before courts of law. ASP Kawoo speaking2…….

The follow up on the same matter at police by Kasese guide radio was forced by the doubt among the local community members think police may present to state a week charge with an aim to un hook the suspects, some of who are backed by senior Kasese Municipal officials.

As the FDC Chairperson for central division, Mr. Jafari Kigutiha calls for resignation of the suspects, the Kasese Municipal Mayor whose administration to many people is on test, vowed to handle same matter indiscriminately. END.
