The Church of Uganda has dismissed circulating rumors claiming that a new Bishop has been elected for the Diocese of Busoga.
In an official statement released yesterday, the Church’s Provincial Secretary, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, condemned the false and misleading information spreading on social media.
The current Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Naimanye, is expected to retire later this year, sparking widespread interest among both clergy and lay members about who will succeed him in leading one of Uganda’s most historic and influential dioceses.
Rev. Ongeng stressed that the Church will only make an official announcement regarding the Bishop-elect once the election process has been properly concluded through authorized channels. He further urged Christians in the Diocese of Busoga to stay united, remain prayerful, and trust in the Church’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent election process. END
