A Chinese inmate, who is serving a one-year jail term for theft in Ghana, has escaped while receiving medical care at a hospital in the capital, Accra.
Wang Xiao, the inmate, was held at the Nsawam Prison in the south of the country after reported sick last Wednesday and taken to a nearby hospital but he escaped from the hands of the prison officers who had escorted him to the health facility.
The Ghana Prisons Service has reportedly issued a wanted re-arrest notice of the inmate, who is standing trial in another case. END
