There was drama like scenario at Nyakatonzi Sub County in Kasese district this morning when the district woman councilor Representing Kinyamaseke town council and Nyakatonzi sub county, Hon. Beth Karoko exchanged with Nyakatonzi Sub County chief, Mr. Ngazi Bagonza Vincent who attempted to block a journalist from attending the Parish Procument Committee meeting.
The seemingly disappointed Hon.Karoko tasked the sub-county chief to allow the Journalist attend the meeting and follow deliberations, wondering why access to information was denied to the community over accountability of UWA revenue funds allocated to various projects.

She tasked Mr. Ngazi Baguma to account for four million shillings meant for the procurement of gum boots for elephant’s guards in Nyakatonzi sub-county, which is suspected to have been swindled by his office.

The Chairperson Kakongye one village in Nyakatonzi sub county, Mr. Semu Ibimbya who called for an audit over government funds said as local leaders they previously spent over 5 million shillings to construct one classroom with an office using local revenue compared to the technical staff that spent twenty million shillings for completion of one classroom at Muruti PS in Muruti parish in Nyakatonzi sub-county. Mr. Semu on accountability….
Ms. Tumusime Leodiya, a member of procurement committee calls for collaborated effort to have the sub-county chief Mr.Ngazi accountable for delayed implementation of government projects.
