An educationist in Kasese District has embarked on promoting Bee-Keeping to boost the incomes of people.
Mr. Daniel Ngangasi, the Director Liberty College of Management and Journalism in Kasese town, says Few Ugandans have ventured into bee-keeping on a commercial basis yet evidence suggests that it is a viable household enterprise, he told Bee-Farmers during a one day training held at the institute.
For example, a single Langstroth hive, which costs sh100,000, has the potential to produce 45kg of honey a year.
He said time was ripe to invest in Bee-Keeping at large scale and lobby Government to provide Grants than thinking about Luxurious expenditure that is only short lived.Mr. Ngangasi on Bee-Keepingā¦
A bee-keeper can easily earn over shs.200,000= per hive if the bee hives are well managed.
Mr.Twebaze Deogin, the Kasese district entomologist said bee- keeping would help in diversifying agriculture now that the land is becoming less productive.Mr.Deogin speakingā¦
Bee-keeping requires little capital investment, land and less labour among others. END.
