Hon. Ham Natuhwera, the Kasese District councilor representing Nyakatonzi subcounty in Kasese district, says plans are on to fill the three valley dams in the subcounty in preparation for the anticipated dry season for the safety of livestock.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio on phone yesterday, Hon. Ham who said the area lost more than 700 cattle over water and pasture challenges last year, called on cattle keepers to be strategic on the safety of livestock now that Kasese like other areas in Uganda, is likely to be hit by a long dry season.
Hon. Ham asked pastoralists to store hey in a better way to minimize animal diseases, describing water as a key requirement to the safety of cattle whose keepers need to stock enough pasture as well.
