A bout thirteen drivers at Bwera taxi stage in Kasese Municipality are reportedly in police custody over yet to be known reasons, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed the information and only identified some arrestees as, Mr. Kabwana Zunguluka, Mr. Kayoka, Mr. Jockus and Mr. Salongo Isebahasa among others without giving any details.
Mr. Patrick Bengahania, an alleged member of the reported interim executive committee for the drivers’ Sacco said they had gathered yesterday at their office to deliberate on what he called mismanagement of their group before some drivers were arrested, a situation that has forced them to put duty aside today until the matter is resolved. When contacted about the arrests, the Kasese district Commercial officer, Mr. Simon Kasereka confirmed the arrest but declined to give any details until he shares with the police leadership. END.
