Bwera Secondary school in Kasese district has resolved to equally share the loss of the recently burnt property of students at the school, school head teacher, Mr. Milton Masereka has said.
On Tuesday, a boys` dormitory caught fire under circumstances that have caused mixed reactions, burning personal property of over one hundred students
In an brief interview shortly after parents and Board of Governors` emergency meetings at the school yesterday, Mr. Milton said whereas the school had equally lost yet to be quantified property in the fire that took them close to four hours to put down, the affected students would be compensated with mattresses and uniforms.
He later said the meetings had agreed that the remaining property loss by the learners would be shouldered by the parents and guardians. Mr. Milton speaking….
When asked about possible cause for Fire, Mr. Milton was hesitant about an electric short Circuit cause as earlier believed, adding however that police was to investigate the matter. Mr. Milton speaking2……..
To Arnold Apipawe Mumbere, a senior three student said that whereas other personal items can easily be replaced, the big challenge would be faced by those learners whose academic documents were burnt during the incident.
The former Kasese district Member of Parliament, Hon. Winfred Bihande Kiiza regretted the incident she however thanked God for protecting the lives of the learners.
The former Leader of Opposition in Parliament later asked schools to put in place the necessary preventive measures against related deadly incidents before arguing police to do thorough investigations for justice to take route but also to avoid a repeat.

The Kasese district education officer Mr. George Mayinja described the incident as regrettable, arguing learning institutions to have basic requirements and minimum standards for safety and security that include among others, fire extinguishers, water and sand buckets against fire.
