    Buwenge Speaker, VHT electrocuted at function

    Two people were yesterday electrocuted in Jinja District.

    They are Mustafa Bisike, the Speaker of Buwenge sub county and Peter Weraga, a village health team committee member, in Busedde sub county in in Jinja district.

    It is reported that, Hon. Bisike, Mr. Weraga and three others were erecting tents for a meeting of farmers at Kiiko Primary School, in Kiiko village, Busedde sub county, in Jinja district, when one of the metallic poles they were carrying came into contact with a loose underground wire, which electrocuted them to death.

    Mr. Daniel Ibanda, the country director of Farm Stew Uganda which had organized the meeting, says that the deceased have been coordinating farmers on behalf of farm Stew Uganda, however, they were shocked by the incident.

    ASP James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson who threatened to team up with Umeme to deal with illegal power use, said there are several underground illegal connections in the sub counties of Busedde and Butagaya in Jinja district, putting the lives of the residents at risk.
