NUP Presidential Candidate Kyagulanyi “Bobi Wine” yesterday stealthily evaded the Police and UPDF dominated designated route to Nakasongola and instead diverted through Gayaza – Zirobwe – Kikyusa- Bamugolodde -Kalungi route.
Kyagulanyi was hard waving to hundreds of his supporters that had not expected to see him from the roadsides of his impromptu.
Police and Uganda People’s Defense Forces in Nakasongola had been deployed along their routes ahead of the campaign rally.
Policemen and soldiers have been deployed in Kakooge town council along Kampala -Gulu highway where Kyagulanyi is supposed to branch off to join the feeder road.
Teargas trucks had also been stationed at Kakooge town to ensure that Kyagulanyi and his team comply with planned route.
Sam Twineamazima the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson said that the route and venue was agreed upon with NUP coordinators. In Nakasongola, Kyagulanyi addressed key issues which include stopping brutal operation by Fisheries Protection Unit on Lake Kyoga, high poverty levels and rampant land grabbing, which had left people in Panic as government proposes to evict them.
