Police in Rwenzori East Region has called for vigilance against gangs, including street kids that are targeting school going children.
SP Nelson Tumusiime, the Regional police Spokesperson told Kasese Guide Radio yesterday that some parents and guardians were entrusting their children with school fees that gangs have targeted at many isolated hot spots.
In an interview at the regional police headquarters in Kasese, SP Nelson also called for vigilance among school administrators and parents against some learners who carry sharp and obstructing objects like knives, iron bars, pins, nails, cellphones and radio for selfish reasons.

Earlier, Mr. Erisa Muhindo, the head teacher for Base-Camp primary school in Kasese municipality who concurred with SP Nelson about the need for thorough checkups on learners, asked parents and guardians to send their children to school in time so as not to paralyze the teaching process.
