Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner has called for unifying political campaigns aimed at maintaining peace during and after this political season.
Lt. Walunsimbi who was the Chief Guest at the Habitant Team Association launch over the weekend, said time was ripe for Kasese district to maintain reconciliatory and peaceful campaigns now that the 1995 constitution of Uganda okeys freedom of speech and association, including freedom to form and belong to political organizations of choice. In his address, Mr. Yofesi Douglas Saturday Madaraka, the Executive Director for Madaraka Cares, asked the association leadership to promote savings he said they must protect jealously. His political competitor for the Kasese Municipal MP seat, Mr. Francis Kithulha Mugisa, the Executive Director for Kithulha Cares Initiative, warned the association members against politics of divisionism but peaceful political mobilization as Uganda goes to the general political elections.
