There were running battles between police and vendors in Mawa market this morning, as law enforcement officers were implementing the presidential directive against Corona Virus.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio shortly after the operation, the District Police commander, ASP Okello Dickens said he was challenged by the increasing number of vendors especially women operating in Mawa market that have allegedly disobeyed the presidential directive of banning public gatherings .

Police officers were reportedly seen searching houses around Mawa market looking for vendors that were operating illegally.

Ms. Sylvia Masika, another market vendor who attributed the survival of her to Mawa market, asked police to allow them sell their produce along the streets to earn a living.

The Chairperson LC 3 Kinyamaseke town council, Mr. Ernest Kyamakya said the business community in his area has adhered to the directive.
