Hundreds of mourners thronged Kaserengete I Cell in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council at the burial of late Zeresi Biira Baluku 100, to remember her contribution towards Kasese district.

Presiding at the requiem mass at the deceased’s home, the retired Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt Rev Zebedee Kahangwa Masereka, told the mourners to remain farm in their faith and guard against living in fear.
Quoting from Isaiah Chapter 43 verses one and Two, Bishop Masereka also cautioned the mourners against getting involved in lies, selfishness, greed, corruption and discrimination but to emulate the late Biira who welcomed people to her home regardless of their backgrounds. Earlier it was reported that the late Biira accommodated and fed many people, especially those who went to the area in search of education.
Bishop Masereka also directed the clergy to intensify their pastoral work to fight the increasing thefts reportedly on the increase in the
area.
Former Bukonzo West area Member of Parliament, Defence Minister and Uganda’s Ambassador to Beijing, Dr Chrispus Kiyonga, urged the people of Kasese to take advantage of the forthcoming Parish Development Model to grow more coffee whose price has greatly improved.
Dr Kiyinga, who was also a former Minister for Health, however, expressed concern at the increasing food insecurity and malnutrition, urging the community to grow more cassava despite the increasing land shortage.
The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu (OBR) Prime Minister, Rt Hon Joseph Kule Muranga, urged the people of Rwenzori region to unite in rebuilding the institution, which the new cabinet is trying to rebrand. END
