State Minister for Lands, housing and urban development, Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanja has ordered for the cancellation of the land tittle owned by the Banyathereza Sisters in Sayuni cell in Rugendabara-Kikongo town council in Kasese district.
Addressing stakeholders at Rugendabara –Kikongo town council headquarters this afternoon, Dr.Mayanja said the land tittle for the disputed piece of land was acquired in error now that their file did not have the area land committee minutes as required by law.
Dr. Mayanja directed that occupants on both sides currently making use of land should not be evicted as the Banya-Theresa consult the law on a possibility of acquiring another tittle genuinely. Dr. Mayanja speaking……..
The decision by the minister turned the meeting into sort of a dancing arena by both the area local residents and leaders.
Meanwhile, the local residents were shocked by reports that he had turned off the visit to Ngoko village in Kitswamba subcounty where he was expected to resolve the land dispute between the cultivators and cattle keepers.
According to Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, the Member of Parliament for Busongora North, the affected people should be calm because no local resident is to be evicted despite the fact that the Minister had failed to get through the muddy road to the area. Hon. Sowedi speaking…….
