Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, the former Defense Minister of Uganda has called for an audit into the quantities of produce from Kasese to other areas in Uganda before the district development goals can be vetted.
According to Dr. Kiyonga, it a mere dream for any leader to think of guiding and developing a hungry community that is not only gloomy but harsh.
Addressing a press conference at the Kasese district NRM Office yesterday, Dr. Kiyonga repeated his earlier concern that thousands of cassava and banana tones were being imported from other districts, including Kagadi where one kilogram of cassava flour goes for one thousand shillings and prices more than doubled when sold in Kasese.
The famous farmer in Western region was convinced that Kasese people would ably invest back home should efforts be made to local produce all the food than importing. Dr. Kiyonga speaking1………
Dr. Kiyonga said whereas land was too small in some areas, pig, goat, chicken and rabbit rearing should be promoted for both domestic and commercial purposes. Dr. Kiyonga speaking3………
Earlier this year, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira challenged the Kasese people to work hard to produce for domestic use and the market than leaving commercial trucks go empty from the district. END.
