At least 42 people are feared to have lost their lives during the devastated floods in Kasese district since 2013 to date, Kasese Guide Radio can reliably report.
According to the District planner, Mr. Joseph Isingoma the deaths occurred concurrently due to flooded rivers and landslides among others.
The latest floods happened in September 2022, where 16 people died after landslides hit Kasika trading center in Rukoki Sub County.
Another similar incident occurred in Kitholhu sub-county where four people lost their lives.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting recently organized by the world food program held at Kasese Multipurpose hall in Kasese municipality, Isingoma who doubles as the District disaster focal person, attributed floods to heavy rains and the river catchment among others.
