Twenty Women affiliated to “Women Call Center –Uganda”, a nongovernmental organization based in Kidodo cell in Kasese Municipality, have attained skills in tyre shoe making to help them get a source of income for their survival.
The project aims at empowering women through informal vocational training with practical skills covering a variety of topical areas including, critical thinking, self-reliance, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and career development through hands-on skills, Ms. Margret Biira, the Coordinator Women call Centre-Uganda has said.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio yesterday during the ongoing training of beneficiaries at Kighina Guest House in Kidodo cell, Ms. Margret said gone were days when the community tagged making tyre shoes to be for Men, therefore appealing to all women to embrace and support it, as it will help them get out of poverty and curb domestic violence in their families.Ms. Margret speaking…….
Ms. Margretasked residents to work hard since most of the people are poor because of laziness.
Ms. Brenda Biira and Ms.Stella were opportumistic that the knowledge and skills acquired will help them transform economically.

She further advised men to always support their wives and eradicate poverty from their families by putting much emphasis on agriculture for food security and improved livelihoods. END.
