A section of arts teachers in Kasese district has expressed their dissatisfaction over the government’s plan to increase salaries of only science teachers without considering those in the arts section.

Mr. Samson Asiimwe, a history teacher in a private school in Bunyangabo district said that whereas he is not a civil servant, the intended salary increments to science teachers in government aided schools were likely to cause gaps in the learning process.

Mr. Lawrence Kalenze, a Swahili teacher at Kasese secondary school in Kasese Municipality said that whereas they love their profession, they would either engage government through legal means for better remunerations or lay down their tools if that will force their line ministry to listen to them. Mr. Kalenze speaking………..

Rev. Deacon Simon Masereka, a teacher of Divinity at the same school reminds Ugandans that science and arts teachers go to the same market for food and discriminating in salaries was not only un fair but a total discouragement. Dn. Masereka speaking…..

The former Hima town council local council three chairperson, Mr. John Musana Katura calls for calm among the teachers considering the fact that the country like elsewhere in the world, had just got through a deadly and costly COVID-19 pandemic.

To Mr. Augustine Muserero, the head teacher for Kasese secondary school is confident that government will deal with the current challenges in the education sector. Mr. Muserero speaking…….

If government honors her pledge, science teachers` salaries will more than double. END
