A section of arts teachers in Kasese district has expressed their dissatisfaction over the government’s plan to increase salaries of only science teachers without considering those in the arts section.
Mr. Samson Asiimwe, a history teacher in a private school in Bunyangabo district said that whereas he is not a civil servant, the intended salary increments to science teachers in government aided schools were likely to cause gaps in the learning process.
Mr. Lawrence Kalenze, a Swahili teacher at Kasese secondary school in Kasese Municipality said that whereas they love their profession, they would either engage government through legal means for better remunerations or lay down their tools if that will force their line ministry to listen to them.
