Nakawa and Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court had a busy schedule yesterday evening as suspects arrested during the walk to Parliament protests were arraigned before the courts.
More than 50 people were remanded to Luzira prison on charges arising from their alleged involvement in Anti-Corruption protests which locked the city earlier in the day.
The protestors which were split on different files and distributed before different Magistrates at Nakawa and Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Courts were charged with various offenses amidst heavy security deployment from Uganda police.
Security both armed with guns and batons were inside and out of the court premises.
They have faced two counts; common nuisance and being idle and disorderly.
They appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidhasa and Grade one Magistrate Caroline Kyoshabire where they denied the charges and remanded until August 5th, 2024 as investigations continue. They comprised students, businessmen and women, KCCA councilors, veterinary doctors, and other politicians. END.
