The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has charged three officials of Uganda Technical Institute Kichwamba with abuse of office, embezzlement and causing financial loss.

The three are the Principal of the Institute, Mr. Silver Mukwasibwe, his Deputy Joseph Nyakoojo and the Accountant Grace Tibanagwa who is still at large.

Mr. Mukwasibwe and Nyakoojo were yesterday arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro.

Court heard that between July 2021 and October 2022, Mr. Mukwasibwe while performing his duties as Principal for Uganda Technical College Kichwamba irregularly procured goods and services worth 130.6 million shillings contrary to provisions in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.

The court has also heard that Mukwasibwe diverted 79,825,705 shillings to pay for various activities not related to those for which they were intended. Mr. Mukwasibwe and Nyakoojo have however denied the charges and applied to be released on bail. END
