Kasese district is among those at highest at risk districts for heavy rains according to weather forecast for March, April and May by Uganda Metrological Authority, Dr. Brain Kanahe, the Director for Disaster Risk Management at the Uganda Red-cross society headquarters has said.
In his remakes shortly after launching a project, “early warning and early action” on disaster preparedness during the installation of a simulation evacuation camp at Karusandara playground yesterday, Dr. Kanahe said the same forecast had put Karusandara sub-county as high peak of disaster risk that timely intervention. Dr. Kanahe who on behalf of Uganda Red Cross donated safety gears and money to help the local community make trenches, said the early warning sensors installed along River Nyamwamba had predicated floods in May in Kasese District, calling for early preparation.
