Mr. Erisa Miramawa Nzighunyingi, a resident of Maliba Sub-county in Kasese District, has described the artificial arms secured for his daughter, Esther Mbambu Nya-Azida, by the Office of the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese as a great relief to the family.
On September 22, 2025, the Bishop’s Office facilitated Nya-Azida’s trip to Mulago Hospital to be fitted with artificial arms to help her regain the ability to perform some personal duties.
This intervention fulfilled a pledge made by Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku on July 5, 2025, during his visit to Omwakati Trading Centre in Maliba Sub-county, where he had gone to open a general merchandise shop for Mbambu to support her in caring for her children.
In his remarks, Bishop Baluku expressed deep sorrow at witnessing a once hardworking and independent woman rendered disabled at a time when her children needed her the most.
Mr. Miramawa praised the Bishop’s support, noting that the provision of artificial arms to his daughter had brought much-needed relief.

Mr. Miramawa also condemned domestic violence and urged couples to seek counseling services rather than resorting to violence. Esther Mbambu-Nya-Azida, a 36-year-old woman, tragically lost both her hands on May 20, 2025, after her husband, Hasan Kato now serving 40 years sentence in Prison, forcefully amputated them during a domestic altercation in Nyakasojo Lower cell, Bulembia Division in Kasese Municipality.
