Kasese Municipality is a fruit of the 2001 National population Census, Hon. Centenary Robert, the Forum for Democratic Change Vice Chairman in charge of Western Region has revealed.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at Rwenzori International Hotel yesterday, Hon. Centenary said it was a similar exercise in 2001 that showed government the increasing population in the then Kasese town council thereby, facilitating negotiations for a municipal council that Kasese district is proud of.
The former Kasese Municipal Legislator who asked the locals to participate fully in the exercise that begins today, said National Population and housing Census provides invaluable insights into the demographic makeup thus, facilitating planning and service delivery to the local population. The Kasese district senior planner, Mr. Joseph Isingoma told Kasese Guide radio last evening that he was optimistic that the disrupted road network by heavy rains in the district will not affect the national population census now that the official recruited the exercise are locals in their areas of origin.
