Mr. Asanairi Bukanywa, the Kasese Municipal Agricultural officer has decried the poor post-harvest handling of coffee by farmers in the community.
Speaking to our reporter in his office at the municipal headquarters, Asanairi stressed that farmers have developed a practice of harvesting unready coffee beans on addition to poor post-harvest handling which he said cause damage, reducing the quality and value of coffee.
According to the agriculturalist, the vice may cause farmers to incur financial losses due to the reduced quality and quantity of their coffee thus affecting their livelihoods. Mr. Bukanywa speaking……
In a related development, Hon. Gadi Mugisha the Kasese district councilor representing Kitswamba sub county noted that the practice of harvesting unripe cherries has become common in his area and quickly asked farmers to desist from the vice before they risk arrest.
