Teacher absenteeism has continued to be a thorn in Kasese Education system, as pointed out by the district boss, Mr. Erifaz Muhindi.
It leads to wastage of resources because the Government pays more for half work done that compromises the Quality of education.
The Uganda National Examinations Board UNEB recently pointed out that teacher absenteeism was one of the reasons for failure rates in the primary leaving Examinations.
During an impromptu visit at Ihandiro Primary school in Ihandiro sub-county yesterday, Mr. Muhindi noted that out of eight government teachers posted at the school only five had turned up for duty.
The seemingly disappointed Muhindi said he had agreed with the Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Elias Byamungu to withheld salaries of teachers who fail to attend to school at least twenty days in a month.
