A Ugandan truck driver who tested positive for COVID-19 has been admitted at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.
The truck driver was intercepted at Kawadsi Parking yard in Mubende town, which was gazetted as the stopover of trucks.
The Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, Rachael Kawala says the driver entered the country through the Mpondwe-Bwera border post in Kasese District where he was tested and allowed to continue with the journey as his tests were being assessed.
The hospital medical superintendent, Dr Alex Andema says that the truck driver has been isolated at the hospital’s treatment centre.
He adds that the driver is among the 43 who tested positive for COVID-19.
Dr. Andema says that they are investigating if the truck driver came into contact with any person along the way.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 203 after 43 more people tested positive to the virus yesterday.
