By Kyamanduma Patrick,
Mr. Selevest Mapoze, the Chairperson Local Council Three for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council in Kasese District, has clarified that the death of the late Rogers Kabili, a Police Officer in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council, was caused by strong winds that toppled an old eucalyptus tree, which subsequently fell on the uniport shelter.
Speaking to our reporter shortly after visiting the scene yesterday, Mr. Mapoze noted that the late Rogers was among the brave young police officers whose dedication and conduct reflected a strong commitment to serving both the local community and the nation at large.
He added that the eucalyptus tree, reportedly planted in 1935, had grown large, but its taproots had weakened over time, making it vulnerable to collapse.
Mr. Mapoze extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 40-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide in Kitabu Village, located in Muhokya Sub-County, Kasese District.
Although police have not yet issued an official statement, Mr. Posiano Kwirathwiwe, a resident of the area, identified the deceased as the late Mumbere Mugenyi Kaboko. Mr. Kwirathwiwe speaking…
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
END.
