A minimum of ten thousand shillings has been levied to every Christian in the diocese of Kasese as contribution for the resumption of the new cathedral construction.
The parish priests will strategize the methodology of collecting the money from the local churches and thereafter handover the funds to the Diocesan construction steering committee.
In the construction report presented by the Kasese Diocesan Treasurer General, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kule Syathetha during a stakeholders meeting held at St. John Paul II Memorial ground in Kasese town it was revealed that the initial construction budget of Five Billion shillings has increased to Six Point Seven six (6.76) Billion shillings, with a total of 2.37 billion shillings so far paid to the contractor. The Money was distributed to parishes according to their strength, where Kasese cathedral Parish will contribute 1.25 billion shillings,Nsenyi,Kasanga and Kampala community 100 million shillings each, Kyalhumba 98 million, Bukangara 88 million, Hima 78 million and Kitabu 74 million shillings among others.
