The body of a suspected Mai-Mai operative who was shot dead at the Uganda-DR Congo border by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces has been handed over to the Congolese government, Kasese guide radio had learnt.
Lt. Mathe Magwara, the Kasese Deputy RDC in charge of Bukonzo County confirmed to this radio yesterday that un identified suspected Mai-Mai operative was shot dead near Kiraru as he avoided arrest by the UPDF when he and his colleagues who were detained crossed to Uganda in fear of the cross gun fire, back in the DR Congo.
During the handover of the body and the five detainees at Ponder border post in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha in Kasese district, Lt. Magwara who said security in Uganda would continue upholding the rights of fighters, added that Kampala would continue collaborating with Kishasha on matters of border security and trade relations. The 222 Brigade Commander, Col. Christopher Tumwine who pledged continued security information collaboration for the safety of the two countries, said the suspected Mai-Mai operatives were arrested by the UPDF as they crossed their colleague into Uganda, for medication.
