A police officer in Budaka District has shot dead a Boda Boda cyclist in Kamonkoli town council.
Wilber Kawuno a resident of Kasanvu parish in Namanyonyi in Mbale district died at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital this afternoon where he was rushed shortly after sustaining injuries in the back.
According to police, the deceased was riding during curfew hours and also carrying a passenger contrary to the presidential directives on preventing the spread of the Covid19 disease.
Julius Ceaser Tusingwire, the Bukedi Region Police Commander told Kasese guide radio that the police officers who were enforcing the curfew at 4:00 a.m. today tried to stop Kawuno in vain.
Tusingwire says that the deceased drove towards the police officer intending to knock him which prompted the officer to shoot him.
According to Tusingwire, the police officer whom he declined to name has been arrested.
