Nine government projects were yesterday launched and commissioned in Kasese Municipality with a call on local governments to be accountable by emphasizing transparency while managing public resources.
Shortly after the commissioning and launching of pit latrine construction, class rooms, staff quarters, roads and the bridge, Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner hailed the Kasese Municipal leadership for concentrating resources in particular places for a positive impact than disintegrating them, and being accountable to the public. His Worship Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipal Mayor, said 409 million shillings so far received of the expected one billion shillings additional road fund from government is to fund the Kirembe-Wasewanaba road project that had stayed to the disadvantage of the local residents. During the commissioning of a class room block at Kemihoko primary school, Mr. Pimako Kasereka, the local council three chairperson for Nyamwamba division urged the local residents to prioritize education if the 88 million shillings from government sent for the project was to be meaningful to them. Mr. Kigutiha Jafali and Bwambale Muhesi, both local council one chairperson for Basecamp lower and Kyazuki cells respectively hailed government for the different projects, calling for more plans to have roads in Kyanzuki worked on to ease communication among the locals.

Buhunga primary, Kyazuki primary school, Road Barrier market, Nyamwamba primary school, St. Immaculate primary school, Railway health centre III, Basecamp market, Kirembe bridge and Kirembe Wasewanaba road are the projects that were either launched or commissioned by the Kasese RDC. END
