Meanwhile, an old man of 80 years, Mzee Bartholomew Masereka, a local resident of Nyakayina cell in Kisinga town council, Kasese district has faulted legislators for always passing bills and later laws without consulting their constituents.
Speaking to candidates eying for Bukonzo County East parliamentary seat yesterday during their joint campaigns in Kisinga market, Mr. Bartholomew who was hurt by the coffee amendment bill 2024 expressed his dissatisfaction over the legislators continue making laws without consulting their voters.
Early this year, Parliament of Uganda agreed to amend theNational Coffee Bill, 2024, aiming to integrate the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) into the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
Parliament also amended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Bill, 2025, which allows military courts to try civilians under specific circumstances.
