At least 600 bee hives under People and Nature Rwenzori Mountains have been supplied to farmers in Bukonzo County East in Kasese District, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
This has caused an increase in beekeeping in the district, according to the Programs Director, People and Nature, Mr. Jackson Mumbere.
More bee hives were given to beneficiaries of Kalingwe Men and Women Bee Keepers Association in Kisanga sub-county on Thursday by the Belgium donor, Petroose Fonds at Kibira trading trading center.
In his remarks, Mr. Jackson, asked the beneficiaries to properly utilize the bee-hives to produce honey for improved livelihoods and climate change. Mr.Jackson speaking….
The donors had also recently trained young girls from primary schools of Bughema, Kilhambayiro and Kabingo in Menstrual Hygiene management through making reusable sanitary pads, donating sewing Machine and Five thousand water tank among others, according to Edith Muhindo, the technical advisor People and Nature Rwenzori Mountain and the donor, Ms. Loti Vandamme.Ms.Edith and Loti speaking….
All primary school beneficiaries, decried lack of girl’s washrooms and inadequate toilets, saying the situation has forced learners and teachers to allegedly share toilets. The Head teacher, Bughema Ps, Mr. Solomon Mbwirahe called for urgent intervention by Government and partners in development to address health challenges. END.
