Landslide victims encamped at Nyambuku Primary School in Ibanda–Kyanya Town Council, in Kasese District have a reason to smile after receiving relief items from John Monday Wakighoma.

On April 20, 2025, at least 520 people from eight villages in Ibanda–Kyanya Town Council and Maliba Sub-county were affected by devastating landslides that destroyed their homes.
With no alternative, the affected individuals, including 157 school-aged children, sought refuge at Nyambuku Primary School.
Mr. Johnson Kuleya Kingora, Chairperson of Nyambuku Cell in Kyanya Ward, reported that despite notifying the government about the disaster, no assistance had been extended to the victims. Mr. Kingora speaking….
Saulo Bwambale Mughunza, the Camp Chairperson, noted that some individuals had been spreading misinformation, claiming the camp did not exist.
Yesterday, Wakighoma visited the camp and delivered 500 kilograms of cassava flour, 100 kilograms of sugar, and 100 packets of salt to the displaced families.
Wakighoma, a parliamentary aspirant for Busongora County North, pledged to prioritize poverty eradication through empowering women and boda-boda groups economically if elected to Parliament.
