Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital yesterday(15 June 2020) discharged 47 truck drivers, majorly Ugandans and two foreigners who have recovered from the Coronavirus disease.
This is the biggest number of recovered patients being discharged the same day from one facility ever since Uganda recorded its first case on March 21st.
Presiding over the discharge ceremony at Entebbe Hospital, the Director General Health Services, Dr. Henry Mwebesa noted the 47 truck drivers were admitted at Entebbe Hospital on the same day and also been discharged together after 17 days in hospital.
Dr. Mwebesa who says the latest discharge of 47 patients brings the total number of recoveries to 346 of the 720 cases in Uganda lauded the Hospital workers for staying safe while handling the patients and suspects for the last three months. Dr. Mwebesa speaking…….
However, Dr. Moses Muwanga, the Hospital Director used the occasion to also inform Mwebesa that his team has not yet been paid risk allowances for two months before appreciating government for the support staff to manage the cases.
There are 100 hospital workers including 70 health workers and each front line worker on duty earns between shillings 40,000 to shillings 80,000 per day. Dr. Muwanga speaking……
