Thirty four Candidates have been dully nominated to contest as MP aspirants in different counties in Kasese district ahead of the 2026 general elections, with a call on security to ensure peaceful campaigns and elections.
According to Mr. Godfrey Mbabazi the Kasese District returning Officer, among the contestants, ten are independent candidates, six are NRM candidates, FDC six candidates, NUP six candidates, four PFF candidates, DF two candidates, marking a total of thirty four aspirants across the district.
He also clarified that woman Mp seat has six aspirants, Bukonzo West three aspirants, Bukonzo county East six, Busongora North six, Busongora south seven and Kasese municipality six candidates.
He further urged them to embrace electoral commission guideline to eradicate confliction cases during campaigns.

Meanwhile, SP. Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police spokesperson congratulated candidates upon their nomination and commended them for keeping peace, love and unity adding that no cases were registered thus urging them to continue with the patriotism and per Africanism exhibited in the two days exercise.
