A section of leaders from the Forum for Democratic Change-Katonga faction has been arrested as they attempted to march to the Kenyan Embassy in Kampala to protest the recent abduction of Dr. Kiiza Besigye in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.
The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, identified the eight suspects as Faridah Nangozi, Zarica Muteesi, Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and Ingrid Turinawe among other arrestees.
ASP Oweyesigyire who said a decision would be taken over detainees, added that the eight suspects have been detained at Central Police Station on charges of being a common nuisance and participating in an unauthorized procession. ASP Owoyesigyire speaking……
Dr. Besigye and his co-accused, Hajji Obedi Kamulegeya, were arrested from Nairobi on Saturday, where they had attended a book launch by Martha Karua, a prominent opposition leader in Kenya. END
