The Child and Family Protection Unit at Rwenzori East Region has released its January-April 2025 report in Kasese Municipality, revealing 116 cases of domestic violence, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
SP Nelson Tumusiime, the Regions Police spokesperson told the press yesterday at Police headquarters, the majority of the cases were related to domestic violence, with women reporting their husbands for beatings, and neglecting home responsibilities, while men reported their wives for torture and denial of conjugal rights.
According to SP Tumusiime, 39 cases were for child neglect, 15 abandoned children and six people were convicted by court.

He attributed the trend to women prioritizing work and money over their marriages, leading to family breakdown.
Tumusiime, also revealed that two suspects in youthful age were detained at Bwera Police Division on allegations of raping an Old woman in a burial in Munkunyu sub-county Kasese district in disguise of alcoholism. SP Tumusiime two speaking….
