Ten sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix commonly known as the Gogonya sisters have taken permanent vows to serve God and the Church.
The sisters in their vows committed themselves to live a life of chastity, poverty and obedience. In an expression of total submission, the sisters prostrated as the clergy and congregation prayed for them to live to their calling.
Two senior members celebrated 60 years in service while another four and two had their golden and silver jubilees respectively at an event which was attended by relatives and Christians at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix convent at Gogonya yesterday.
Kampala Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere who led the colorful ceremony urged those who had taken their perpetual vows and the jubilant to face challenges they come across with fortitude.
Also in attendance were Uganda Catholic Episcopal Conference chairman and bishop of Mityana Diocese Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa, Mukono Diocesan Bishop, Christopher Kakooza and his predecessor Dr Mathias Ssekamanya.
Sr. Namusisi commended the parents of the sisters for surrendering their children to God, underscoring the importance of participating in repairing souls and returning the wired to God. END
